Deer Cap is a local secret that's easily and unfortunately driven by. Turn up the dirt drive to the top of the hill and enter into a time zone of the 1950s, where you'll likely stand in line for fifteen minutes on any given evening. Nobody minds the wait. Unthink any preconceived understanding of "scoops". Huge does not adequately describe the portions. I hesitate to release the secret, as it may ruin things.
Fantastic!! We got what is considered a "one scoop"! Homemade and great flavor choices. It is cash only so bring cash!
Great portions great service bring a mosquito spray in the summer cuz you'll get devoured it's in the woods. All around five star rating service quality in value boom boom boom
This ice cream shop is located on a former camp grounds, which I'm sad to hear on this visit the camp has since shut down. However, the ice cream shop still operates and is still popular in the area. It's always a treat for us, as my family will bring people whom are not initiated in the ways of Deer Cap, and we leave out the little detail that the servings are preposterous. My wife ordered the two-scoops. To give you an idea, people would order a three-scoop ice cream and it could feed a family of 4. My wife was overwhelmed. She was able to eat half of it, I had half of my sundae, and we drove back to the cottage. We had to stop several times as the melting ice cream was overflowing the bowls. Even with all the lost product, and cursing from my spouse, there was more than enough left the next day. Plenty of parking, staff are friendly. The shop is taking precautions due to COVID-19, and the parlor is closed, and it's one customer at a time to order. Staff wear masks, and require you wear one when you order.
Generous doesn't even begin to describe the portions. They are huge And the ice cream is delicious. It is definitely worth a trip. We just returned to NH from a month long trip out west; our first stop was Deer Cap Ice Cream before we even went to our house. Ice Cream for dinner , . . Yum
This is an icecream stop at the DeerCap campground. My family went here twice during our camping vacation. We were staying at another campground and were told this was something to check out. Their hours are limited as they are only open at night. It is tough to find so look for the dirt hill a cross from M&M Deli. All that said I highly recommend going there. Great selection of icecream choices, ample seating, and generous portion sizes.

This is my family's favorite ice cream place. Love that it's easy access but off the busy main road. Plenty of parking and places to seat. Staff is alway pleasant and unlike all other places in the area they know how to keep the line moving. And the most bang for your buck. The sizes are very generous.
